Festival of Transport – IoW Steam Railway Havenstreet 23rd May 2021
9.45am– 4pm No entry after 9.45am and no movement between these times
Several VHVC Ltd members who have supported this annual show previously have again been invited to attend this year. Under normal circumstances the Club would whole heartedly support this event and encourage members to attend such a good show. Whilst we bring this event to your notice, your committee feels that this year, Covid-19 will still be a threat to health. We have decided not to fully endorse this event for members to attend due to the possible risk to health.
Of course your attendance remains a personal choice and should you still wish to attend the show, there is nothing to prevent you from doing so.
Havenstreet are legally quite entitled to hold the show under current business event Legislation, which have been supplied by the organisers and detailed below. There are also Risk Assessments in place, but it is not yet fully clear how the public will be separated from the owners and vehicles being exhibited.
The VHVC Ltd are eager to continue to support events at Havenstreet in the future and wish to continue our close working relationship with them. It is just on this occasion we are recommending greater caution to our members.
The current legislation regarding events of a business nature is shown below.
The ‘Rule of 30’ would apply to gatherings of friends or family – for example you could not meet with 30+ people at the beach. The rules for businesses are different – essentially we can accept as many people as can safely stay socially-distant (hence why supermarkets can accept more than 30 people at once, or we can carry a train of people). Here are the details for businesses: Reopening businesses and venues – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
The relevant section for Stage 2 is: Outdoor gatherings or events, organised by a business, charity, public body or similar organisation, can be organised, subject to specific conditions: that they comply with COVID-Secure guidance including taking reasonable steps to limit the risk of transmission, complete a related risk assessment; and ensure that those attending do not mix beyond what is permitted by the social contact limits
Risk Assessments are available by request to the club email address firstname.lastname@example.org
