Kevin Froment Final Drive Tribute 13th August 2025
30 members with their classic cars assembled at the Victoria Recreation ground, ably marshalled in by Chris and Dave Batchelor directing members. At 1pm members followed the cortege which was led behind the hearse by Kevins treasured Ford Cortina Mk3 driven by son Adam with Sandra. The drive to the Crematorium was very impressive with marshals at two key junctions allowing for a smooth unbroken transition. It was clear that drivers who stopped were respectful of the cortege. More Classic cars were already parked up when we arrived. Kevins son and grandsons were pall bearers. The Celebrant Sue Edwards conducted a service full of humorous memories and anecdotes of Kevin’s life, as well as paying tribute to his dedication in editing the VHVC Ltd Newsletter and Membership secretary for nearly 20 years, together with his love of Christmas and his much loved Cortina. Tribute was also paid to Kev’s support for the Breathe Easy group, which he supported avidly with his long term COPD. Taking on the job of producing another monthly Newsletter of 30 pages. The Wake was held at Porchfield Cricket Club, where Sam, Kevins daughter thanked everyone for coming and all the cards and flowers sent to Sandra. A wonderful buffet was enjoyed by the many who attended, with much chat about Kevin who was universally liked by all those he met.
