Bus Museum Ryde VHVC Social Run Sun 28th June 2026 Well after the very hot spell of weather over the last week it was a relief to find us with a more comfortable day for our Club social run. Although we never know how many members will turn up for a run it was good that as we approached the 2.00 start, I counted at least 28 cars ready for the journey to the Ryde Bus and Coach Museum where cakes and drinks awaited. The route was the most direct and possibly a little boring but having endured the many road closures and one way systems during the festival week I felt an easy and more direct journey would be appreciated. The museum staff were well organised and quickly had all our classics cars parked up forming a very attractive display, no time to lose, get in the queue to choose a slice of cake from the marvellous selection baked especially for the afternoon by Linda De Bues. The selection included St Clements Drizzle Cake, Chocolate Banana Cake, Tottenham Raspberry Cake, Madeline’s, Victoria Sponge, and last but not least butter pastry sausage rolls. Only crumbs left at the end! As is traditional Tim De Bues hosting an easy eighteen question quiz, not all about cars but quite a lot of Island questions included. The quiz winners were:- First prize Gwyneth Byerley (After a tie breaker) Second prize. John & June Bryant Third prize. Adam Ward 9Also after a tie break Well done to everyone. The museum were holding a special weekend to mark the national Armed Forces Day during which they were providing visitors with free open top bus rides down to the esplanade with enough time to enjoy an ice cream. This was fitting end to a very enjoyable afternoon. To support the museum Linda donated all her cake sale proceeds ( £81 )to the museum team.
