VHVC at The Garlic Festival Sat 15th & Sunday 16th August We were very fortunate again this year to have been able to negotiate a choice for members of a morning or afternoon visit. We selected the Saturday Afternoon which was a 1.30 pm to 6pm slot. No surprise that it was another very hot day with temperatures yet again in the 30 degree C . Just in time to see some of the morning group leaving as we arrived. Sadly, having given the organisers an estimate of 20 cars each session we only had 7 on the Saturday afternoon with probably the same in the morning slot plus the 5 American club members. David Spurgin reported about 12 cars on the Sunday on display. Such a shame so few on a day when you could have recouped the club annual subscription on that single day with an entry fee of around £14 pp. We do wonder whether we will be afforded this privilege in the future with such few exhibiting. The show was as vast as ever with the usual varied entertainments and several different live music acts on stage throughout the day. By mid afternoon the foot fall had clearly dropped to hardly any passing our area or the stalls. With the marshal’s goodwill we were allowed to leave at 5pm passing the near empty public car park. It really is a great show to visit, and we are lucky to be able to enjoy it all for free. Many thanks to all who were there on either day.
